Flir TG130 Spot Thermal Camera

The new FLIR TG130 Spot Thermal Camera provides an economical way to bring infrared into the everyday world. With one-button simplicity and a quick start up time, the TG130 is ready at hand to find simple energy leaks, check temperatures on electrical or heating appliances, or even just to see the family dog in a whole new light. A center crosshair will pinpoint the measurement area, while the screen will display the temperature of the object in real time. All this is wrapped in a rugged rubberized housing ready to take the abuse of the toolbox or the clutter of a kitchen drawer.

FLIR refers to the TG130 as a Spot Thermal Camera. Think of it as a more intelligent infrared thermometer. Instead of measuring the temperature of just one spot, the TG130 is measuring 4800 spots and creating a meaningful image from this information. Then it uses the center few pixels to show an on-screen temperature. It’s a spot thermometer with the added benefit of visualizing the areas most in need of measurement. Of course sometimes it’s not the exact temperature you need, but rather a comparative picture of the whole area. When seeking energy leaks around a window for instance, you need to know where the hot or cold spots are, a job that's tedious at best with a traditional spot temp gun.
